El Paso County has an amazing community of youth who are passionate about agriculture and raising livestock.  They dedicate countless hours to the care and well-being of their animals. They learn what it takes to be successful through programs like 4H and FFA. 

 

4H and FFA programs are youth development programs that build confident and hard-working future leaders.  They develop life skills that help them grow and be ready to enter adulthood.

 

The Calhan Posse is a group whose mission is to support the youth in these programs. We host livestock shows for the 4H and FFA exhibitors to display what they are learning. 

 

The Posse uses the proceeds from our shows in a number of ways. 

 

First, we recognize one market exhibitor, in each livestock species, who have demonstrated outstanding herdsmanship during the El Paso County Fair.  We do this by providing add-on money to their auction proceeds.  

 

Second, we partner with the El Paso County Junior Livestock Sale Committee to cover the added money commission fees for the exhibitors during the auction at the completion of the fair.

 

And third, we are hoping to start a scholarship that will help exhibitors who will be furthering their education past high school.  This is a longer term goal but we hope to get it established in time for the 2026-2027 school year.   

 

We would be honored if you would consider a sponsorship to help offset the overhead costs of our shows.  Your money can be earmarked for a specific award, a specific show or just a general donation to be used as the committee sees fit.

There are two ways to donate to our organization.  One is to click on the green "DONATE" button at the top and bottom of the page.  It will take you to a general donation page where you can help us with a financial pledge.

The other way is to either scan the QR code or click on the Red "SPONSORSHIP" button and you will be taken to our Zeffy "store" where you can sponsor a specific award for one of our shows.  

 

If a financial donation is not possible, we welcome volunteers to our group to help at our shows.
