The Calhan Posse is a group of community members who organized in 2019 to work together to promote opportunities for youth in 4H and FFA to expand on what they have learned with their livestock projects.  

 

​The proceeds from the livestock shows are used to cover the commissions that are assessed on the added money for the kids who sell animals in the Junior Livestock Sale each year at the El Paso County Fair.  Participants in the sale often times have community members add additional money to the sale price of their animals at the sale, "Add-on's".  To allow for the kids to receive 100% of this money the Calhan Posse works with the Sale Committee to pay the commissions on these add-ons.  The Calhan Posse has done this during the 2021 and 2022 Junior Livestock Sales, and we hope to continue this again at the 2023 sale.
